Our History

For us, sustainability is not just a value, but our history. Today, our work enables us not only to create the equivalent of 700 million recycled glass bottles, but also to prevent the emission of around 260,000 tonnes of CO₂ each year.

The Beginnings

Eurovetro was founded in the post-war period as Galli Biagio e Figli, a business specialising in the collection and resale of scrap glass, iron and aluminium. The family-run business moved to its premises on Via Palazzetta in Cesate in the 1970s, where it focused on glass recycling.

1986

As business activities and market demand increased, the need arose for larger operational premises and an increasingly well-organised production facility. The growth in the volumes to be processed and the increased demand for finished products from customers thus marked an important milestone in the company’s history: the move to the operational site at 12 Via Primo Maggio in Origgio.

2004

In 2004, Eurovetro became one of the founding members of FERVER, the European Federation of Glass Recyclers: an important step that strengthened the company’s role in the sector and its contribution to the development of shared standards and a circular economy for glass at European level.

2013

In 2013, the production site at 45 Via Primo Maggio in Origgio was established: 55,000 square metres dedicated to the recycling of packaging glass. Ranking among the most advanced in Europe in terms of technology and processing volumes, the new plant marks a new phase of industrial growth for Eurovetro, strengthening its processes, production capacity and long-term vision.

2023

In 2023, Eurovetro opened its new plant in San Vito al Tagliamento (PN), dedicated to the recycling of flat glass with an annual capacity of 100,000 tonnes. This strategic investment is designed to make the most of waste from the industrial sector in the north-east and to provide direct support to the region’s important hollow glass supply chain.

2025

In 2025, Eurovetro entered into a long-term industrial partnership with the Quarzwerke Group, a long-established European company in the mineral raw materials sector. This strategic move lays an even more solid foundation for the company’s future growth, accelerating investment in technology and innovation and strengthening its ability to develop increasingly advanced and sustainable solutions for its customers and the recycled glass supply chain.
